An expert has explained some of the main benefits of using a new Joomla component for WordPress integration.
Speaking at the recent CMS Expo, Rafael Corral of CorePHP said that the component means Joomla hosting users can now take advantage of tagging capabilities, 3,000 WordPress plug-ins and the ability to enhance search engine optimisation through permalinks, CMSWire reports.
He demonstrated that it is simple to switch to, style and move the WordPress sidebar within Joomla and noted that users need to change the .htaccess file to allow the component to integrate with native Joomla SEF and sh404.
Reporting Mr Corral's talk, John Vanover of CMSWire said that the most interesting feature of the new component appeared to be the WordPress Admin tool.
"It [allows] login users to access WordPress admin from [the] front end, so they do not have to deal with Joomla admin functions at all," he stated.
Joomla is currently working on the latest release of its content management system, version 1.6.
